I am waking up this morning smiling, jazzed, and excited!   Tomorrow is the big day.  First half marathon of the year.  I am ready. Don’t you love the orangey shirt?  It is my Spring race shirt this year.  Light, bright, and oozing fun.

Tomorrow evening, I will be surrounded by many people.  More than I will be able to count. Does not matter.  We will all be aiming for the same thing, the finish line 13.1 miles from the start.

Hubby, a wonderful friend and her Hubby and oldest son will be running also.  I chuckled remembering the last time we ran this race.  My wonderful friend was pregnant while she was blazing the trail.  I am still in awe.

No watch, but plenty of great tunes and a huge smile will keep me focused.

Here is hoping for all to have a fabulous weekend!

Order has been given a bad rap.  For most people they think stuffy, rigid, and commanding.  I, on the other hand, think perfection, relaxing, and purpose.  Crazy, I know!

Every Sunday evening as I am getting my clothes ready for the upcoming work week, I make sure that I end with a relaxing task.  Ironing.  Really crazy.  I love ironing.  It is a great way to relax.

Each weekend the last thing ironed are these.

I have made a point to celebrate the little things in life.  I do not care if we are eating a sandwich or an elaborate dinner, we will have freshly starched linen napkins.  Order.

Each day they are sitting nice and cozy in their home..a treasure from a flea market.  Easy and can I say orderly?  At flea markets I gravitate to the linens.  I started buying up white and ivory napkins of all sizes.  Now I have started looking for vintage fabrics.  Who can survive without a little color and style?  Not me!

Order.  Napkins.  Heaven.

What a beautiful city!   I had heard about this place for a while.  We finally were able to check it out on Saturday.  I am so glad we did.   It is in the German state of Bavaria.  It is also a UNESCO site.  I can see why!

Lovely Roman remains.  Just imagine scrolling along this holding hands with your sweetie.

Oh, we enjoyed doing just that.

Of course we visited the church.

I just love weekends!   We had great weather and were able to get things done.  Relaxing was number 1 one the list,

Last weekend before our first half marathon this year.  I got in a five mile run and a 10 miler.  I am feeling good about the upcoming race.  Yesterday I did a long session of yoga.  I will get in a couple of short runs this week and be ready to go Saturday.  During the runs this weekend, I really focused on the aspect that I always leave out… Fun.

Not running with a watch has allowed that.  Trust me, it is not easy at times.  It goes against who I am.  I feel like a rebel.  This is the real challenge!

Busy week ahead.  Aren’t they all?   But on this Tuesday, I am ready to embrace it and am looking forward to Saturday.

Happy last Tuesday of May.

Running, traveling, weekends

Next Saturday evening is the first half marathon of the year for me.  Getting excited and a little nervous.  You know how it is.  Did I train enough?  What is a realistic goal?  Will I remember to have fun?

It will not matter next Saturday evening.  It does now!

This weekend is a long one!  Three whole days.  Yea!  I will do two 5 mile runs and one 10 mile.  That will make me feel more confident and ease my mind.

I will of course do more than run!  Hubby and I have a day trip planned to a city we have never been before.  Relaxing, wine, food, and great conversations are on the docket.

Happy Memorial Day.  Enjoy the weekend.

Quick, dinner…

Dinner, eggs, leeks, mushrooms, onions

It is been just fabulous weather this week.  I want to come home and enjoy the sun and nice temps.  But… Girl has to eat!

I do not want to spend time cooking a huge heavy meal.  Last night was a treat.  What does two eggs, two mushrooms, half a leek, and a baby red onion get you?

Dinner heaven.  I took my plate, turned on some jazz music and headed outside to the patio.  Great way to unwind after a long day.

Life is so good!

I have heard that your ‘accessories’ say a lot about a person.  I am ok with that.

I pack my lunch every single morning.  A salad, a veggie wrap, or a smoothie.  Something light, but healthy.  Not a problem.  I even have a lunch box!  Or I should say, a lunch bag.

I am a lover of literature.  All kinds of literature.  Isn’t it fun?

Yesterday I was at a school eating lunch with some elementary students.  I pulled out my bag to start eating. One student asked me, “Is that yours?”  I responded in the affirmative.   He informed me that it was a little kid book and that I might need to find a book on my level.  I sucked in my feelings about age and secretly proud that he was in the know about reading levels.  I told him that everyone can learn and enjoy Dr. Seuss.  Don’t you just love kids?

As an accessory I am sure that carrying a Dr. Seuss bag says something about me.  I think fun, kid friendly, and young at heart.  But who knows!

Perfect End…..

After just a wonderful weekend, Hubby and I wanted to soak up every single moment of fabulous weather and our time together.   That is is our goal.  Every single weekend we do not waste a moment.

We took a walk for a late dinner and a dessert!

We walked to a town close by, Herrenberg.  It was a perfect end to a fabulous weekend.

Here are some views from our table….

You run a race.  You get swag.  Seems like a great deal.  What a great Saturday!  Great weather.  Great trail.  More on that later…

First, the swag.

Hubby was pumped.  He thought this was the best shirt ever for a race.  Army green and a tank.  For him, that is heaven!  For me, I will add it my yoga wardrobe.

I started a new tradition for this race.  I have decided to leave the watch at home.  It was marvelous.  I focused on the music and the scenery.  I plan on continuing this tradition for every race.  I have to say I enjoyed every single step.  I am happy with my results and know that I am ready for my half marathon in two weeks.

It was a great start to the weekend.

In my neck of the woods we are forecasted to have REAL Spring weather.  I cannot wait!

Have a wonderful Monday!

friends, half-marathon, Running, weekends

End of the week.  Beginning of a weekend.  Nice, isn’t it?

After work, I am driving to Hubby’s apartment to spend the weekend running and with friends.

Saturday morning is our first race of the season!  I am SUPER excited!  It is a 5 miler through an old tank trail.  Hubby and I are both running it.  The best part is the finish line.  It is at an outdoor Biergarten.  Cross the line then go and have something cold!  (I will not be one of the ones that chooses a beer.  Not my cup of tea.  I have yet to understand why people finish a race and then head to the beer tent.  Hydrate with water!)

Saturday evening we are double dating with some great friends to celebrate a birthday milestone.  Not one of ours, it is our friend.  Cannot wait to sit back and enjoy a nice dinner, a glass of wine, and catch up.

Sunday will bring a long run.  Only two more weeks until the first half marathon of the year.

Isn’t life great?  Enjoy the weekend!
