Another weekend, another Christmas market!!! This time we hit the Esslingen market. This one is especially fun because it has a medieval twist to it!
First, here is the city of Esslingen.
I just love the half-timbered houses. The town itself is right along the Rhein River. It was great back in the day when you needed to do some trading!
The beautiful thing about the market is the atmosphere. It is electric. A bunch of people walking around enjoying the sights and sounds of the day. There is always great food. Smiling faces are everywhere.
The entrance to the party!
As I said, a bit of a medieval twist to this one. The people working the stalls were dressed accordingly!
Ferris wheel anyone?
How about a little music?
I just love looking at the booths!
These were made out of leather. I thought they were pretty cool.
Hubby goes to the markets for one thing… food and drink. Okay, two things.
We feasted on some real ‘healthy’ cuisine… rosemary potatoes in a garlic sauce and grilled lamb meat where the juices drip down into a piece of brotchen. To wash it down, we had some traditional mulled wine or gluwein.
Those things are huge!!!
When getting gluwein, you have to consider a lot of things. First, if you are ready for a break from walking around. Second the mug. I have collected a mug from each of the markets we have gone to over the years. Yep, I have a lot! However, those mugs can bring a huge smile to my face just thinking about the fun we had.
I was looking for a mug that was medievalish… It was perfect! Right before this shot I was bumped and we had a little spillage! The mug is now in my ever growing collection!
As always, it was a great way to spend a December afternoon.
