Food anyone??? In my family food is so much more than fuel. We love to cook. We love to eat. We savor our bites. We talk about what it takes to make a meal.
This past weekend we had the pleasure to visit a nearby town who was hosting an International Fest. When I read that food was involved, everyone was sold!
This was Father’s Day weekend. What a wonderful way to spend the day.
We developed a game plan.
1. We would each be responsible for each part of our meal- appetizers, main courses, and of course dessert!
2. We all had to try everything.
3. No complaining!
First, appetizers (Amazing Daughter’s choice)….
We went for some egg rolls from Thailand. They were amazing!!!
We were feeling pretty good about ourselves! We continued to walk around the area.
As you can see there were a lot of people out enjoying the beautiful weather and culture!
Next in the food tasting was main courses! I was next to make a decision.
I decided on a falafel.
Even Hubby liked this! Chickpeas fried into little balls wrapped with tomatoes, onions, peppers. What’s not to like right?
I had a very difficult decision because right before we had passed the wonderful smells of curry. However, it was okay because Amazing Daughter made the choice of going again. She chose Indian food!!! Curry chicken…
It was beyond delicious. The problem we were encountering was pacing ourselves! We decided to be adventurous and order something else from the Indian camp. I cannot remember what they were but they were to die for!
Anyone’s guess. We know they had potato and some veggies inside.
In order to work ourselves up for another main course, Hubby’s choosing, we needed to do some more exploring.
Here are some of the sights of our romp!
It was hard to believe but this day fest was not just about food! We were treated to the amazing cultures of many countries. We were able to experience music, dancing, and just a great time in each country’s pride as they showcased their ‘goods’.
Roasted pig anyone???
This was so beautiful! I love this grill.
Next it was Hubby’s turn to select a dish! He went Croatian.
These were made from lamb. Dipped in that red sauce they made you weep they were so good!
Finally, it was dessert time. We were thinking ‘healthy’ after all the other stuff we indulged in!
Chocolate covered strawberries anyone???
Or chocolate covered pineapple?
We were so stuffed we only ate a couple of pieces!
It was a wonderful day trying different things. Most importantly, enjoying the differences that other people around the world have but knowing everyone has to eat!
